Sunderland in for Clayton

According to SkySports’ Transfer Centre, Sunderland are close to deciding whether they should bid for Crewe star Max Clayton.

Clayton who is 19, has already played 74 games for Crewe and has showed promise with his pace, shooting and dribbling.

The youngster has been reportedly seen as one of the better young players in the football league and Gus Poyet’s Sunderland are keen on bringing the youngster in to the North East. Clayton has been training with Sunderland this week and is expected to return for the next as he has impressed thus far.

The striker refused fresh terms at Gresty Road however will not be able to leave on a Bosman free with him being under the age of 24. This means that Crewe are completely entitled to compensation fees, they believe to want compensation in the region of £1 million, it is up to Sunderland whether they actually decide that the young star is worth it.
