Hull City manager Nigel Adkins has hinted that he interested in signing Scunthorpe United winger Hakeeb Adelakun in the January transfer window, according to the Hull Daily Mail.
The Tigers have been linked with a move for the 21 year-old and Adkins has not ruled out a move for him.
Hull were also linked with a swoop for Kilmarnock and Northern Ireland winger Jordan Jones but Adkins has said that Hull will not be moving for him.
Adkins has made signing a defender, winger and a striker as the priorities for Hull. He has been in charge of the Tigers for 4 games and despite only winning once there have been signs of improvement.
The former Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Sheffield United and Reading boss will be looking to put his own stamp on his new inherited squad.
He may be set to raid his former club for their star winger. Adelakun has been in great form for the Iron in League One this season. His contract expires in the summer so they may be willing to sell him in January for a fee to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Although Adelakun was not at Scunthorpe when Adkins was the manager there, Adkins has admitted that he has tracked his old club’s progress and has seen the winger in action. The Iron are reportedly wanting around £1 million for him. It will be interesting to see whether Hull City will make the move for him but they will face competition for him.
