PREVIEW: Lincoln City vs Forest Green – Imps looking for fifth straight home win

Lincoln City will be looking to make it five home wins from five when they take on Forest Green Rovers.

The Imps currently occupy the third and final automatic play-off position after they picked up maximum points yet again against Stevenage on Boxing Day. Their opponents, Forest Green Rovers, are sat bottom of SkyBet League Two.

Lincoln City come into the game having won seven points from their last three games. A draw away at Newport County sandwiched in between wins against Accrington Stanley and Stevenage saw Danny Cowley’s side slide into the automatic promotion places.

A sixth goal of the season for summer signing Harry Anderson followed by goals from talisman Matt Green and substitute Josh Ginnelly secured the points for the Imps.

Forest Green on the other hand head into the tie having lost their last two games. Losses to Luton Town and Carlisle United leave Mark Cooper’s men bottom of the pile.

Their Boxing Day clash at Exeter was abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch.

The two sides met back in September with Harry Anderson’s second half strike being the only difference between the two sides.

These two came up together from the National League last season, with the Imps pipping Rovers to the title. Cowley’s side managed to complete the double over Forest Green last season. A 3-2 victory at the New Lawn was sealed by a Sean Raggett header deep into injury time.

Lincoln City won the reverse fixture at Sincil Bank 3-1 with goals from Lee Angol, a Marcus Kelly own goal and a Sam Habergham free kick secured three vital points towards the title.
