PREVIEW: Coventry in long journey to face Carlisle

Promotion chasing Coventry City make the long journey north this weekend to take on Carlisle United.

Only 4 points separate the two clubs with Carlisle placed in 12th. The Cumbrians are firmly in the chasing pack for a play-off spot. Visitors Coventry currently occupy the final play-off spot having won 38 points so far this season.

The hosts come into the game in relatively good form having won their last two games against Forest Green Rovers and Accrington Stanley.

Goals from Jamie Devitt, Shaun Miller and Danny Grainger secured the points for Keith Curle’s side against Stanley on Boxing Day.

Jason Kennedy remains the only long-term injury on the books at Carlisle. The midfielder looks set to miss the next 12 months after suffering an injury to his pelvis.

Visitors Coventry missed the chance to go into the automatic play-off places on Boxing Day having lost to lowly Port Vale. Nathan Smith’s strike for the Valiant’s ensured that Coventry slipped back down to 7th position.

The sky blue’s last victory coming under the lights against fellow promotion chasers Wycombe Wanderers. A Michael Doyle strike followed by a brace from striker Marc McNulty was enough to cancel out Dan Scarr and Joe Jacobson’s penalty.

Coventry are still without long-term absentees Jodi Jones and Tony Andreu whilst Liam Kelly is still recovering from a nasty ankle injury.

The two sides met back in September with Coventry picking up all three points. Two goals after the interval from Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Duckens Nazon and Peter Vincenti secured the points.
