According to ClubCall Leeds United, Sunderland and Aston Villa make up the quartet of sides, along with QPR, who are slugging it out sign Peterborough duo Marcus Maddison and Jack Marriott.

Leeds are said by ClubCall to have sent a scout to Peterborough’s 3-1 Boxing Day win against Bradford City, both Marriott (two goals) and Maddison (two assists) impressing for the Posh.

The ClubCall article then goes on to say that Marriott, “was linked to Queens Park Rangers earlier this week,” going on to then say that “both Aston Villa and Sunderland are understood to be interested in signing him.”

The form this season of both Marriott and Maddison will definitely raise eyebrows, their performance against Bradford City underlining just what a formidable force the two are in League One.

Marcus Maddison has scored five goals and provided 15 assists over the opening 24 games of the current League One campaign, adding a further four goals and three assists in cup games. Jack Marriott has also shown his worth, netting 17 times and providing three assists – a further four goals and one assist coming in cup games.

Totting all that output up gives the stunning total of 30 goals and 22 assists between the pair – that alone underlying their worth to Peterborough. It also helps to define their price tag too, with Peterborough already turning down £2 million bids for the pair according to Director of Football Barry Fry.

With the interest hotting up in the deadly duo, it is hard to see them remaining as Posh players when the upcoming transfer window closes at the end of January.
