5 potential candidates to replace Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday

There is not much surprise at the news that Carlos Carvahal has been sacked as manager of Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls have made a poor start to the season and now find themselves looking for a new boss. Here are 5 potential candidates-

Paul Clement- The former assistant manager of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid was recently sacked by Swansea City after a poor start to their top flight season. Having saved them from relegation last season, this seemed harsh. He has experience of managing in the Championship from his spell at Derby County and would be a good option for Wednesday.

Paul Lambert- The 48 year-old is looking for a job after leaving Wolves at the end of last season. He is an experienced Championship manager having managed Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers and Wolves in the past.

Craig Shakespeare- A former assistant manager to Nigel Pearson, Shakespeare took the reigns of Leicester last season and did a good job in steadying the ship. His name has been thrown into the hat at Sheffield Wednesday. He has previously worked at Hull City, Derby County and Leicester and currently works at Everton.

Nigel Pearson- Pearson knows the Championship very well and has experience of guiding teams out of it. He is currently manager of Oh Leuven but would no doubt be tempted by the club he spent 7 years as a player at.

Aitor Karanka- The Spaniard is still in the hunt for a job after being sacked by Middlesbrough last season. He would be an exciting appointment for the Owls but would be hard to get.
