Injury-plagued Leeds United striker will be out for six weeks

Injury-hit Leeds United forward Caleb Ekuban is likely to be out of action until at least the end of January with a foot injury according to The Express.

The 23-year-old Italy born hotshot has managed just seven outings in all competitions for The Whites this season after being plagued with injury problems.

Ekuban’s latest injury setback came at Loftus Road last weekend as Leeds United secured a 3-1 win. The striker was replaced by Pawel Cibicki in the 38th minute of the match after fracturing a bone in his foot.

The player’s injury comes just weeks after returning to fitness following a metatarsal fracture and The Whites manager Thomas Christiansen has now confirmed that Ekuban will be out of action for a minimum of six weeks as a result of the latest injury blow.

Ekuban joined Leeds United for an undisclosed fee from Italian club Chievo Verona in the summer and the player signed a four-year deal at Elland Road. The striker failed to make a single first team appearance for the Italian Serie A club after making the step up from the club’s academy system while he has netted just once for new club Leeds United to date.

The player has made his name during loan spells with little known clubs Sudtirol, Lumezzane, Renate and Partizani Tirana.
