A week in politics is said to be a long time in politics, according to a quote attributed to the late Prime Minister Harold Wilson. It’s enough time for Leeds fans to forget things though.
Only a week ago Kemar Roofe was feted by many Leeds United fans along the lines of the finest Beluga caviar after a match-winning hat-trick last Saturday against Queens Park Rangers (video below).
But how a week and a game has changed the mindset of some Leeds United fans. Seemingly the following three goals have all but been forgotten.

From QPR to Norwich, exactly seven days – that is all it took for a certain section of the Leeds United supporter base to turn on the player whose three goals had gifted them three vital points that maintain the Whites play-off credentials.
Kemar Roofe has gone from being seen as the answer to playing a lone striker role up top for Leeds to being roundly criticised by some for his performance a week later in today’s game against Norwich. Reading some of the comments, you’d be excused for thinking that the Whites had been tanked by the Canaries – yet they won 1-0.
The goal itself was scored by Pontus Jansson, a deft flicked header from a Pawel Cibicki free-kick. Whilst Roofe didn’t get on the scoresheet, he’s certainly made a bit of a wave on Twitter with a number of Leeds fans critical of his performance against Norwich.
From three goal hero to no goal villain – Leeds United fans criticise Kemar Roofe
Roofe is an alright player, but he has too many quiet games like today, think we need another striker like wood ,too many in the team trying to fill in……

Roofe getting hook for his poor decision making #lufc

I’d sub Roofe for that if we had a striker on the bench. Inexcusable. #lufc

Games like today is where Roofe is frustrating. Gets a starting gig upfront but was totally anonymous all afternoon.

That was appalling by Roofe

Whilst none of the above tweets are of the level of abuse being levelled at Jay-Roy Grot, they do show how quickly a player can drop from hero to almost zero in the eyes of some Leeds United fans. Next up at Elland Road are down-the-M62 rivals Hull City in a game where three points are guaranteed to take the Whites into the top six places.
