According to BBC Sports Carlisle United have managed to secure the services of Irish midfielder Danny Kearns on a two-year-deal.

Belfast-born he has now become the Blue’s sixth signing of the summer window after being released from Peterborough at the end of last season.

The 22-year-old began his career as a West Ham United going through the youth ranks back in 2007, after being released from the Hammers he returned to Ireland where was picked up by Dundalk playing in the League of Ireland Premier Division on a short term contract eventually playing 37 games for the club.

In August 2011 ex-Championship club Peterborough United signed Kearns on a three-year-deal for a undisclosed fee.  He was eventually release by boss Ferguson in May 2014 after making 37 appearances for the Posh, as well as being loaned our on three occasions to York City, Rotherham & Chesterfield.

Kearns himself thanked supports for their words of support on his twitter page stating :

Darren Ferguson spoke very highly of Kearns which was why Carlisle were eager to give him the chance to make a name for himself in League Two next season.
