NEWS: Bournemouth slap £15m price tag on reported Wolves target

Bournemouth have placed a £15m price tag on striker Benik Afobe, with Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers keen on bringing him back to Molineux, according to The Sun.

The report also states that Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo is desperate to bolster his striking options, with Leo Bonatini the only recognised senior striker in the squad.

During the summer, Wolves were linked with a number of big money strikers, most notably Jordan Hugill and Jurgen Locadia. However, moves for both players failed to materialise and they are intent on adding cover next month to help maintain their promotion push.

Afobe progressed through the ranks of Premier League giants Arsenal but failed to make an appearance for their first team. During his time at the Emirates, he had numerous spells out on loan in the lower leagues.

In a five-year period between 2010 and 2015, he spent time at six different clubs, these included Huddersfield Town, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

His most impressive loan spell was at MK Dons. He made twenty-two appearances for the club, scoring ten goals, including two in their famous 4-0 victory over Manchester United.

His excellent form saw him earn a permanent move to Wolves, in a deal worth £2m. Afobe played forty-six times for Wanderers, scoring a very impressive twenty-two goals.

In January 2016, Afobe finally made his Premier League move, joining Bournemouth in a deal worth £10m. However, he hasn’t quite made the impact Eddie Howe had hoped and has scored just ten times in fifty-five games.

This season, he has been limited to substitute appearances, with Jermaine Defoe, Callum Wilson and Josh King all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Wolves are desperate to add another striker to their ranks in January, and a move for Afobe would be a good move for all parties.
