Everton interested in promising Leeds United youngster

Premier League side Everton are interested in Leeds United youngster Mallik Wilks, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18 year-old striker is currently on loan at Accrington Stanley and has scored 5 goals for the League Two club so far this season. West Brom are also being linked with a move for him.

Wilks signed a four-year contract with Leeds United in August, though that has not stopped Everton showing an interest in him. He has only made one senior appearance for the Whites, which can last season when they lost to National League side Sutton United in the FA Cup in January.

He is highly regarded at Leeds and they will be reluctant to let him go. Everton have a history of signing youngsters from the Football League and then giving them a chance in their first team. We have seen this in recent seasons through the likes of John Stones, Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Leeds will be happy with the way things are going for Wilks at the moment. The 18 year-old is gaining some first-team experience on loan at Accrington and getting a lot of game time which will help his development. He had a very impressive season with their U23 development squad last season.

There is no doubt that Mallik Wilks has a bright future in the game. Leeds United fans will be hoping that they can hold onto him and see off interest from the Premier League in Everton and West Brom and hold onto their highly regarded young talent.
