QPR, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Millwall to battle it out for prolific Peterborough striker

QPR, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Millwall are all tracking Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott, according to the Daily Mail.

Marriott has scored 17 goals in 30 games for the Posh in League One this season and is could be allowed to leave for around £2.5 million, which has left Championship sides QPR, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Millwall interested.

The 23 year-old striker joined Peterborough in the summer from League Two side Luton Town and has made an immediate impact for the Posh. He has already scored 5 more goals this season than he did in the whole of last season in League Two for Luton.

He started his career with Ipswich Town after coming up through their academy. He only ever made 2 appearances for the Tractor Boys at senior level but he gained first-team experience by having loan spells at Woking, Gillingham, Carlisle United and Colchester United.

He left Ipswich on a permanent basis in the summer of 2015 when he joined Luton Town. He scored 16 goals in his first season with the Hatters and 12 goals in his second. His ability to maintain his goal scoring form in a higher division has made many believe he can take a further step up into the Championship.

It is always nice to see a young English striker scoring goals in the lower leagues. Peterborough are good at spotting lower league talent and giving them a chance in their first-team. It will be interesting to see who out of QPR, Villa, Sunderland and Millwall will make the first move for Marriott.
