Aston Villa are keen on a move for Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa

Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa has emerged as a potential target for Aston Villa in January, as per a report by HITC Sport.

The Championship side are keen to sign a striker in January to bolster their squad for the rest of the season. They have also been linked with a move for Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban but now have Leonardo Ulloa on their radar.

Ulloa, 31, is out-of-favour at Leicester in the Premier League and is reportedly eager to leave. He only played 16 league games for them last season, many coming off the bench.

He made his name in English football when he played for Brighton and Hove Albion in the Championship. He joined them from Spanish side Almeria, having previously played for San Lorenzo, Arsenal Sarandi, and Castellon. He joined the Seagulls in January 2013 for around £2 million.

He scored 10 goals for them in 20 games in his first season and then bagged 16 goals in his first full campaign before being snapped up by Leicester in the Premier League in the summer of 2014. He scored some valuable goals for the Foxes in their title winning season in 2015/16.

Ulloa is a goal scorer and needs more game time. He would be an ideal signing for Aston Villa and would give them some more firepower and options up front as they prepare for the rest of the campaign. With Jonathan Kodjia still out injured, they are very reliant on young Keinan Davis at the moment and do need to sign another striker in the January transfer window.
