Trotters close the door on potential sale of midfielder to Derby County

The 23-year-old Salford born midfield ace has been in impressive form for The Trotters this season and the player has recently been linked with a number of rival Sky Bet Championship clubs with Derby County thought to have been the most keen on striking a deal for Vela.

With Bolton Wanderers aiming to fight bravely against an immediate relegation back to Sky Bet League One, the club have stated that they will not be willing to entertain transfer offers for their top players in next month’s transfer window, including midfielder Vela.

That news will come as a real blow for promotion-chasing Derby County with the club having reportedly been confident of signing Vela.

The midfielder is a product of the Bolton Wanderers academy system and the player has gone on to make 143 first team appearances for The Trotters in which he has contributed 12 goals.

Vela missed two months of the current campaign with an ankle injury. The player returned to action in mid-October and it is no coincidence that Bolton Wanderers’ upturn in form has been helped by Vela’s comeback from injury.
