Cardiff City plotting an ambitious move for West Ham United striker

Championship side Cardiff City are plotting an ambitious move for West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho, as per a report by Wales Online.

Sakho’s contract with West Ham expires in the summer so they may let him leave in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer. This has alerted the attention of Cardiff City, who are apparently lining up a move.

The Bluebirds have made a great start to the season under Neil Warnock and are currently 2nd in the league. They will be looking to add some more firepower to their ranks in January to boost their promotion push.

Sakho, 27, is a Senegalese international. He started his career with French side Metz, who at the time were in Ligue 2. He scored 47 goals for them in 147 games, with 20 coming in his final season for the club in 2013/14.

Sam Allardyce brought Sakho to England when he signed him in August 2014 for West Ham. Sakho’s first season in England was a good one as he scored 12 goals. However, since then his chances have been hard to come by and he has not been a regular starter for the Hammers.

He only played 4 games for West Ham in the Premier League last season. He has however featured for them 13 times already this season as David Moyes seems to be a fan of his.

If Cardiff did swoop for him in January and paid big money for him it will be interesting to see what West Ham do. Sakho would be a great signing in the Championship.
