Sheffield Wednesday, Carlos Carvalhal to be sacked if Sheffield Wednesday do not get a result against Wolves on Friday

Carlos Carvalhal to be sacked if Sheffield Wednesday do not get a result against Wolves on Friday

Carlos Carvalhal will be sacked as manager of Sheffield Wednesday if they do not get a result and a performance against Wolves on Friday night, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Sheffield Wednesday fans have been losing patience with the Portuguese boss after a disappointing start to this season. It now appears that he is on the brink of being dismissed.

Carvalhal moved to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2015 and became a very popular man at Hillsborough. He guided them to the Championship Play-Off final in his first season but the Owls missed out on a famous promotion to the Premier League after they lost to Hull City due to a Mohamed Diame goal.

He then got the Owls into the Play-Offs for a second season in a row last season. They again could not make the next step into the top flight and lost to the eventual winners of the Play-Offs Huddersfield Town on penalties in the semi-final.

Carvalhal was given the vote of confidence by the Owls’ board at the start of this season. However, things have turned sour for him. There is no doubt that promotion is the aim at Sheffield Wednesday but their poor start has left them 14th in the league and 10 points off the Play-Offs.

The Owls have won 6 in 21 games and Carvalhal needs a huge performance from his players against top of the league Wolves on Friday. If not, it could be curtains for Carvalhal and they could be searching for a new manager this time next week.
