Nigel Adkins has won his first game in charge of Hull City after the Tigers beat Brentford 3-2 at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Despite trailing in the game after a David Meyler own goal, goals from Jackson Irvine, Kamil Grosicki and Seb Larsson ensured a winning start for new boss Nigel Adkins. A late goal from John Egan for Brentford made it a tense ending, however the Tigers held on for a precious win.
Adkins, formerly of Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Reading and Sheffield United, is back in football management after 18 months out of the game. He replaced Leonid Slutsky at the helm of Hull City after the Russian boss was sacked after a poor start.
Here is what twitter had to say after the Tigers’ victory-

Honestly I can’t believe what I’ve just seen. What a victory that was. Some proper nervous moments especially towards the end but we stuck it out and got there in the end. Great performances all round and a great start for Adkins. #hcafc

After a difficult start to the season it is good to see Hull City seemingly back on track. The appointment of Nigel Adkins will have raised a few eyebrows, considering his last two jobs at Reading and Sheffield United have not been great. However, he has won his first game in charge and has brought some long-awaited positivity back to the KCOM Stadium.
Next up for the Tigers is a tough trip to Cardiff City next Saturday. They will face the Bluebirds on the back of three points though and Adkins will be hoping he can get something out of his second game in charge.
