Leeds United and Derby County interested in a move for Bristol City midfielder

Championship duo Leeds United and Derby County are interested in a move for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill, according to TEAMtalk.

His contract with the Robins expires in the summer and they are hoping to tie him down a longer deal but will now face competition for him. There is also rumoured to be interest in him from Premier League clubs too.

Brownhill, 21, has impressed for Bristol City so far this season. He has been a key player for Lee Johnson’s side who are currently 3rd in the Championship. The Robin’s fans will be praying that they can keep hold of him.

There is no surprise that there is interest in Brownhill from Leeds and Derby. They are two clubs who are also looking for a promotion push this season and will be wanting to spend some money in January to bolster their ranks.

Brownhill was born in Warrington in the North-West and played for Warrington Town as a youngster before being snapped up by Manchester United. He did not quite make the grade at United and joined Preston North End in 2012. He broke into Preston’s first-team in 2013 and played over 50 games for them.

He went on loan to Barnsley in January 2016 and helped them gain promotion to the Championship under Paul Heckingbottom. However, that summer he decided to join Bristol City at the expiry of his contract and he has not looked back since.

Still only 21 year-old, Brownhill is one of the brightest young talents in the league and would be some signing for the likes of Derby and Leeds.
