Grimsby face Premier League interest for winger

Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town have a difficult task of holding onto winger Siriki Dembele with Premier League teams interested, according to the Grimsby Telegraph.

Marriners boss Russell Slade has already announced his intentions to be active in the upcoming January transfer window, however the former Leyton Orient and Cardiff City manager is hopeful that the activity will be more aimed towards incomings rather than player departures.

However reports emerging from Lincolnshire suggest that Slade may face a stern task retaining winger Dembele, with struggling Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Swansea appearing among many clubs keeping tabls on the impressive winger.

The Telegraph reports that there is truth behind suggestions that Palace have been scouting the 21-year-old, however Slade will no doubtedly want to retain his key player.

In a press conference last month, shortly after Dembele had won an EFL Young Player of the Month award, Slade revealed that the winger is improving gradually and becoming to appear like an asset for the future.

“Siriki is making great progress with us.” he said. “We had him in on trial at the end of the season, and we had a good look. I didn’t hesitate. I said ‘yep, that’s exactly what I want’ from a source who brought him in for me, and he’s gone from strength to strength.

“In my opinion, he can certainly go higher. Why? Because he’s got the right attitude. He will work at things and he always wants to improve.
