Aston Villa have claimed what could turn out to be a useful point by battling back to draw with Leeds United 1-1 at Elland Road on Friday evening.
The home side took a first half lead as defender Pontus Jansson headed in but Steve Bruce’s men did not give up and Henri Lansbury’s goal 19 minutes from time ensured a share of the spoils for Villa.
The result sees Villa temporarily extend the gap between themselves and fifth placed Bristol City by a point and after the match, the club’s fans took to Twitter to praise their side’s performance in West Yorkshire.
Leeds away, gritty and entertaining football—take the point all day. #AVFC #LEEAVL #UTV

Decent result tonight. Turned it around after performing poorly.
Chester is a class act and nothing fazes him.
Whelan excellent.
Hutton has passion to burn.
Can't decide if Davis is not given enough service or doesn't do enough to get around the pitch. #AVFC— Scott Evans (@NotScottEvans) December 1, 2017
Good second half that. Totally deserved a point which I would definitely have taken before the game. On to Millwall. #AVFC

Decent point that, showed good character to come back after a very poor first half. Keep on ticking on #AVFC

Massive progress being made @AVFCOfficial previously we would've conceded more and never got the point. Well done boys 👏👏 #avfc

Arguably our three best players out injured and going a goal behind away from home early on, so getting a point is satisfying tonight #avfc

No frills villa but we'd have lost that game 2 or 3 nil last season. Enjoying seeing them fighting for it, that's all you can ask. 👊🏼 #avfc
