Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is understood to be ready to focus his January transfer window recruitment drive on signing a new central midfielder according to the Bristol Post.

The Robins boss is proving those who doubted his ability during the second half of last season wrong this term with the Ashton Gate based club riding high in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Johnson’s men have a real chance of securing at least a play-off place in the division this season and it is thought that The Robins boss is eyeing the signing of another central midfielder next month to ensure that the club’s promotion dream remains on track.

Bristol City are short in that particular area of the park with both Gary O’Neil and Callum O’Dowda currently sidelined and it has been reported that Johnson would like his new man to be a forward thinker with attack proving to be the best form of defence for one of the highest scoring clubs in the Sky Bet Championship.

In 2016/2017, The Robins started the campaign well but a mid-season collapse saw the club flirt with relegation. Bristol City’s current points total of 34 is just 20 points less than they accrued in the whole of last season and the positivity has returned to Ashton Gate this term.
