MATCH PREVIEW: Leeds United vs Aston Villa

In form Aston Villa travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United, with the Whites looking to close the gap on Fridays opponents to just 3 points.

Aston Villa currently sit in 4th place in the Championship with 35 points from their 19 games. Leeds lay in 8th position with 29 points and will be looking to move level on points with 6th place Derby County.

FORM

After a barren run which saw 7 defeats in 9 games, Leeds look like they are back on track. Since the last international break, they have won 2 of their last 3 games including a 2-1 victory in their previous home game against Middlesbrough.

Aston Villa are on a fantastic run in the league, winning 5 of their last 7. They have won 3 games in a row, and will be looking to extend their impressive away record which has seen just one defeat since August.

TEAM NEWS

Midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is available again for Leeds after serving a one game ban for the red card he picked up at Wolves. Eunan O’Kane (hip) is expected to be fit, but Stuart Dallas and Pierre Michel-Lasogga are both ruled out.

Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak (shoulder) is ruled out of the trip to Elland Road and is expected to be out of action till Christmas. Jonathan Kodjia (ankle), John Terry (foot) and Scott Hogan (stomach) are all also unavailable for tomorrow nights clash. (BBC SPORT)

HEAD TO HEAD

This will be the sides 97th meeting, with the first coming in 1924. Villa boast the better record, winning on 38 occasions in comparison to Leeds’ 30 triumphs. Last season, the Whites were 2-0 winners at Elland Road and held Villa to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park. (11v11)

PREDICTION

Despite Leeds’ difficulties against the top sides this season, I can’t see Aston Villa coming away victorious at Elland Road tomorrow night. The absences of Jonathan Kodjia and in particular John Terry will hit them hard. I struggle to see how stand-in centre half Chris Samba will be able to cope with the pace and movement of Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez, Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban.

LEEDS 2-1 ASTON VILLA
