Birmingham City and PNE expected to watch Well forward at Hampden

Scouts of Sky Bet Championship clubs Birmingham City and Preston North End are expected to be present at Hampden Park this afternoon as Motherwell take on Celtic in the Betfred Cup final.

The Motherwell Times have recently reported that both clubs are interested in signed The Steelmen’s top scorer Louis Moult who has bagged an impressive 14 goals in 19 appearances for the unfashionable top flight club this season.

Motherwell are expected to command a transfer fee of over £500,000 for the former English non-league striker with Scottish Premiership clubs Aberdeen and Rangers also keen on signing the player.

Scouts of both Birmingham City and Preston North End are expected to attend the Betfred Cup final at Scotland’s home of football as the pair weigh up January transfer bids for the 25-year-old Stoke-on-Trent born hotshot.

Moult wrote himself into Motherwell’s history books last month when he netted both goals in an unexpected 2-0 semi-final victory over Glasgow giants Rangers at Hampden Park. The striker has now scored a half-century of goals in just 95 appearances for the Fir Park club since joining Motherwell from National League club Wrexham for an undisclosed fee in summer 2015.

Motherwell are the rank outsiders going into this afternoon’s clash with Celtic with Brendan Rodgers’ men having an unbeaten domestic record this season.
