Villa target could still have a future at Manchester United

Rumoured Aston Villa transfer target Michael Carrick could still have a future at Manchester United with the player having been absent due to a heart scare.

The 36-year-old Wallsend born midfielder has made just one appearance for The Red Devils so far this season in the EFL Cup and it had been thought that the player had fallen out of favour at Old Trafford.

Recent media reports have indicated that Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is considering making a loan approach for the veteran midfielder in January in a bid to provide the player with some first team football.

That deal could still come to fruition with Carrick currently short of match practice however a permanent move is unlikely with the player having revealed that his absence from the United squad has been caused by a heart scare as reported by The Express.

Carrick has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and the player has undergone Cardiac Ablation to resolve the problem. The midfielder has been cleared to resume training and will now look towards making a first team comeback.

The five-time English Premier League winner made 38 appearances for United in all competitions last season for manager Jose Mourinho, scoring one goal. Carrick has expressed his desire to continue his career at Old Trafford and that looks a possibility with good health.
