Millwall can hold their own in the Championship

Millwall’s Conor McLaughlin has told the club website that he believes the team has shown they can hold their own in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Lions have not been on a good run of form recently. They have only won once in eight games, though some of those matches have been draws. But draws have not helped the team get out of their current predicament as they are 18th in the table, just five points above 22nd placed Burton Albion in the relegation zone. This has created plenty of fears that a battle against relegation is in their near future.

But McLaughlin is choosing to stay positive, pointing to the fact they have been competitive with a lot of good teams in this poor run of form which shows they are close to turning things around. However he is still disappointed they weren’t able to get a win against struggling Hull City during the week.

He said: “We were a bit disappointed in the changing room after the game. We had a few chances to go on and win it, but things aren’t dropping for us at the moment.”

“We haven’t been playing to our best in the last few games, but we’re still picking up points in what is a difficult League. That’s the main thing. If you don’t win the game, you need to make sure you don’t lose it.”

“We’ve got the players to turn things round, climb up the table and get the points we need. The wins will come. There’s a lot of games in the League, plus Cup games and some of us are playing international football, but we’re playing in a really good League against top clubs, so we’re enjoying it.”

“We don’t have any right to go out and be beating teams left, right and centre – especially ones that have just come down from the Premier League. But, we’ve shown that we’re holding our own. No team has really blown us away so far.”
