In Rhyl trouble – FA to investigate brawl at Leeds United XI fixture

The Football Association will hold an investigation into the brawl which took place during a Leeds United XI friendly fixture on Tuesday evening according to the Mail Online.

The Whites’ Under-23s coach Carlos Coberan took a young Leeds United side to Wales to take on Rhyl at the Corbett Sports Stadium.

The match turned out to be anything but friendly with some heavy challenges being put in by both sides and late in the second half, a committed battle which included Whites player Bryce Hosannah saw a mass brawl break out with at least one Rhyl player thought to have thrown a punch at the youngster.

Leeds United coach Coberan was said to be disgusted at the opposing players’ behaviour and order his side off the pitch as the match was abandoned with the scoreline tied at 0-0.

None of the Leeds United players are thought to have thrown punches in the brawl and their boss has since praised the group for not retaliating under extreme interrogation.

It has now been reported that The Football Association will work with their Welsh partners to investigate the incidents in North Wales.

Leeds United hope to avoid any sanctions from the authorities with videos seemingly showing the Rhyl players to be the ones causing the trouble.
