Leeds United goal machine set to earn first professional deal

Leeds United are poised to offer a first professional deal to young striker Jack Clarke following the player’s excellent goalscoring form for the club’s under-18 side according to Football Insider.

The 16-year-old York born hotshot has spent the last eight years on the books at the West Yorkshire club and has impressed academy coaches enough to be considered for a first professional contract.

Clarke will turn 17 before the end of this month and will be eligible to sign his professional deal at Elland Road.

The young striker has been prolific in front of goal for the under-18s this season, scoring nine goals in just seven outings for Leeds United. Clarke most recently scored goals in a 5-2 home win over Barnsley and 2-2 draw at Huddersfield Town.

Clarke only signed a two-year scholarship with Leeds United in May along with seven other teammates from the under-16s side and his early promise has persuaded the club to swiftly offer the stability of a professional contract.

The teenager has also made a handful of appearances for Leeds United at under-23 level and the player’s next target could be to feature for Carlos Corberan’s young side on a more regular basis before pushing to break into the first team squad.
