Hull City on the brink of sacking their manager after just five months in charge

Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky is fighting to save his job, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The Russian boss has only won four out of his eighteen games in charge of the Yorkshire club so far this this season. Their vice-chairman, Ehab Allam, was at Hull’s game against Millwall last night at the Den which finished 0-0 and is said to be frustrated with the sides start to the season.

Hull City are currently 20th in the Championship and four points above the relegation zone. They were relegated from the Premier League last season under Marco Silva. Some fans expected this tough start to the season, considering the owners sold all of their best players such as Harry Maguire, Andy Robertson, Sam Clucas, Tom Huddlestone and Curtis Davies and have not replaced them sufficiently.

Leonid Slutsky joined in the summer having previously managed CSKA Moscow and the Russia national team. The 46 year-old has found it tough in the Championship so far but does not deserve to be sacked in my opinion. Going forward, Hull are up there as one of the highest scoring sides in the division. It is the defence where the problem lies, with City leaking goals left, right and centre.

It will be interesting to see who would replace Sluskty at Hull. After all, it must be hard to take a job under an ownership like the Allams. You would expect names like Aitor Karanka and Nigel Adkins to be linked or even possibly a return of Phil Brown from Southend.
