Celtic target a January move for Reading defender

Scottish giants Celtic are interested in a move for Reading defender Liam Moore in January, according to the Daily Record.

Celtic’s manager Brendan Rodgers wants a centre-back and could raid his former club for Liam Moore.

The 24 year-old joined Reading last summer and was a key part of the Royals side who got to the Championship Play-Off final under Jaap Stam. Despite narrowly losing out on promotion to the Premier League to Huddersfield Town, Moore still signed a new four-year contract at the club in August.

He started his career with Leicester City and had loan spells out at Bradford City and Brentford as a youngster. Moore struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular at the King Power Stadium and was loaned out to Bristol City at the end of the 2015/16 season, which was the same season as to when Leicester City famously won the top flight title.

Moore felt he had to leave the club to get more first-team action so he joined Reading. The move has paid off and he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Jaap Stam and has formed a great defensive partnership with Paul McShane.

Reading fans will be hoping they can see off interest from Celtic in January and hold onto their centre-back. There is no doubt that Celtic would be an interesting proposition for Moore, due to their history and fan base. Reading may also be looking for acquisitions in January to kick start their slow start to the season.
