Cardiff City are set to beat Sheffield Wednesday to the signing of Wealdstone’s Ciaron Brown according to a report from TeamTalk.
Because more and more players have been breaking out of non-league football and becoming great in the EFL such as Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin, teams are scouting the semi-pro and amateur leagues more than ever. One player who has been tipped to be the latest man to break through from that set-up is Brown, a 20-year-old defender who has been impressing for Wealdstone.
Several teams have been scouting him over the last few months and he even got a chance to train with a professional team when he went on trial with Sheffield Wednesday over the summer. But while they are still interested in signing him and adding him to their developmental squad, it appears that they are going to lose the battle and Brown will be heading to South Wales.
Cardiff have become interested in the defender, who can play in the centre and on both the left and right of defence, in the last few weeks with their head coach Neil Warnock being very impressed with what he has seen of the player. And the Bluebirds are now trying to get a deal sorted with Wealdstone so they can sign Brown in the January transfer window. While he wouldn’t be playing in the first team straight away, he has a great chance of doing that after some time in their developmental squad and could become a key player for them.
