Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough has told the Burton Mail that his team must work hard if they want to finally get that much deserved home win.

After starting the season off well at home, things starting looking a bit more bleak at the Pirelli Stadium. In their last four home matches, they haven’t even got a point after slipping to losses against the likes of Wolves, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.

The Brewers are determined to turn things around, something they need to do if they want to stay in the Sky Bet Championship. But this weekend is going to be a tough game as they are facing Sheffield United, a team that are doing incredibly well after their promotion from Sky Bet League One last season. And with Clough being very familiar with the team after his own spell with the Blades, he knows his team will have to work very hard if they want to end their home voodoo against them.

He said: “I hope so – someone’s got to!”

“The Ipswich one, we certainly should have won that.”

“That was the real one at the start of that week, it should have been one of those.”

“Not a comfortable one, but in terms of the scoreline, it should have been a 2-0 or 3-0 or something like that.”

“And then we wouldn’t have lost to Barnsley if we’d have got that one.”

“So I think we’re certainly due a home win – but we’re going to have to earn it.”
