Hammers academy product joins Forest on trial

West Ham United academy graduate Anthony Scully is believed to be on trial at Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest according to the Nottingham Post.

The 17-year-old prospect is described as a creative midfielder and while the youngster has made appearances for the club at under-23 level in the Premier League 2, he is yet to be involved in the club’s first team squad.

It has been reported that Scully is currently training with Nottingham Forest and the player could be given his first taste of professional football with The Reds, potentially on a loan deal.

The youngster featured for Forest’s under-23s side in their 1-1 draw with Leeds United in a Professional Development League fixture at The City Ground on Friday afternoon. Oriol Rey gave the visitors an early lead but  The Reds levelled matters with a second half Virgil Gomis effort.

Scully played 79 minutes of the match for Forest before being replaced by Jayden Richardson and time will tell whether the player has done enough to be handed an opportunity at senior level by The Reds boss Mark Warburton.

The midfielder is thought to be rated very highly by parent club West Ham United and Scully is said to have signed his first professional deal with the East London club 18 months ago.
