English Premier League champions Chelsea are not expected to recall young midfielder Lewis Baker from his loan spell at Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough despite the player’s lack of action of late according to the Gazette Live.

The 22-year-old Luton born midfield ace has fallen out of favour on Teesside and has not featured for Boro in a league fixture since the end of September.

Baker signed a new five-year deal with parent club Chelsea in the summer and while the player was loaned out to Boro to step up his career further, the youngster is finding life at The Riverside Stadium difficult.

Despite the fact that Baker is not currently playing for Boro, Chelsea are not thought to be looking to recall the midfielder from his loan spell at the current time although they could opt to take the player back to Stamford Bridge in January and loan him out to another club.

Prior to his move to the North East, Baker spent two impressive seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem. The player made 73 appearances for Vitas and scored 20 goals, many of which were from long range.

Baker has been tipped to star in the English Premier League in the future however the player must first build his experience in the Sky Bet Championship and force his way back into the Boro side.
