Darren Ferguson happy to get home draw for FA Cup 2nd Round

Doncaster Rovers head coach Darren Ferguson has told the Doncaster Free Press that he is happy they have been drawn at home for the Second Round of the FA Cup.

The South Yorkshire club were given a bit of a scare in the First Round of the FA Cup as they travelled to National League South side Ebbsfleet United. The non-league lead raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and looked likely to cause an upset. However Doncaster would rally and eventually win the game 6-2, booking their passage into the next round of the cup.

The draw for that round would take place last night on BBC2 and Doncaster have been given a tough task as they will face Scunthorpe United at home. However Ferguson is happy with that tie, mostly because it will take place at the Keepmoat Stadium which he thinks will give them a better chance of making it to the Third Round.

He said: “It’s a home draw,”

“It’s all I wanted.”

“You’d like to think any game in this round is winnable, which it is.”

“It could be a derby, it could be on the box. If it is Scunthorpe I would say it’s one of the ties of the round really.”

“Both teams we’ve played this season and unfortunately we’ve lost 1-0 to them both.”

“It’s a home tie and that’s all you can really ask.”

“We’ll put it to bed because we’ve obviously got some important league games before then.”

“Certainly if it’s a derby in the FA Cup you’d think it’ll be a good atmosphere and a game to look forward to really.”
