Middlesbrough are battling against Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Leicester City to try and sign Bristol City’s Bobby Reid according to a report from TeamTalk.
The Robins have been surprising a lot of people this season with how well they are playing. Their great form is seeing them challenge for promotion as they are currently 4th in the Sky Bet Championship and a lot of that is down to how well Reid has been playing. The 24-year-old midfielder came through the club academy and is showing his worth this year, scoring eight goals in 16 games.
However there is a storm coming on the horizon. Reid’s contract is set to expire next summer and this means he could end up leaving the club on a free transfer. Bristol City are desperate to keep him and are doing their best to get him to sign a new contract, but teams from the Premier League alongside a rival from the Championship are going to try and sign him during the January transfer window.
Middlesbrough, who are just four points behind Bristol City, are looking to use their bigger budget to make sure they make a quick return to the Premier League and signing Reid would be a great way to damage one of their promotion rivals alongside improving their own team. However Brighton, Burnley and Leicester have all been impressed with how he has been playing over the last few months and are also considering making a move when the transfer window opens in the New Year.
