Everton eye January move for Norwich City star

Premier League side Everton are keen on a move for Norwich City midfielder James Maddison, according to ESPN.

The 20 year-old has been in fine form for the Canaries this season and has been attracting attention from top flight sides.

Maddison started his career with his local team Coventry City and came up through their academy. He made his debut in 2013 in the League Cup against Cardiff City. He went onto play 24 games for the Sky Blues and scored 4 goals. He was tipped as one of the brightest young talents in the Football League.

Norwich City swooped to sign him in January 2016 but loaned him back out to Coventry for the rest of the season as part of the deal so he could gain more first-team experience. In August 2016, Maddison was loaned out to Scottish side Aberdeen. He impressed in Scotland and scored a last minute free-kick to hand Aberdeen victory over Rangers in September 2016.

Maddison has started the season well and is already showing his potential. He scored a wonderful free-kick for Norwich away at Reading in October. There is no surprise that Everton are being linked with him.

Everton are no strangers to signing young talent from the Football League. They have brought in players from the Championship, most notably John Stones from Barnsley and developed them as players. However more recently they have signed the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United, Ademola Lookman from Charlton and Mason Holgate from Barnsley.

Norwich fans will be hoping they can hold onto their promising midfielder in January and make a surge for the Play-Offs in the remainder of the season.
