Blades hoping injury to loanee is not significant

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is hoping that the injury sustained by on loan Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman is not serious according to The Sheffield Star.

The 24-year-old Croydon born stopper joined The Blades on a season-long loan deal from the reigning English Premier League champions in the summer and the player has gone on to make 15 appearances for the club so far this season.

Blackman was at fault for the goal conceded by Sheffield United in the 1-0 defeat to QPR at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening. The keeper collided with teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers in an incident which saw home striker Idrissa Sylla sweep the ball into the net for the only goal of the match.

Blades keeper Blackman was stretchered off following the collision and the player’s injury is currently being assessed with his club hoping that the diagnosis is not serious.

Sheffield United could put down a real marker for promotion this month with three of their four matches set to take place on home soil. The Blades will take on Hull City, Fulham and Birmingham City at Bramall Lane while their only away fixture comes in the form of struggling Burton Albion.

The club will be hoping that Blackman will receive the all-clear to make an immediate return for the fixture against Hull City on Saturday.
