RUMOUR: Fulham and QPR interested in Europa League striker

Fulham and Queens Park Rangers are interested in a move for Ostersunds striker Saman Ghoddos, according to a report by HITC.

It is believed that both sides have sent scouts to watch Ghoddos in Europa League action for Ostersunds’ match against Athletic Bilbao.

The Iranian international was subject to a summer bid by QPR, however this was rejected. They are expected to make an improved offer in January but will face fierce competition from Fulham and various other suitors.

Since the 24 year olds arrival at Ostersunds, he has gone from strength to strength. In the 2016/17 season Ghoddos scored 15 goals and assisted a further 9, helping the club reach the Europa League qualifying stages in their first season in the top division.

During the summer, Ghoddos had various admirers across Europe, including interest from Dutch giants Ajax. Ostersunds managed to reject any advances for his services, and he has continued his impressive form into the 2017/18 season.

With the Swedish league season taking place between April and November, Ostersunds’ only competitive matches are in the Europa League. Despite this being his first season in European football, Ghoddos has made an instant impact in the competition.

He scored 2 goals and assisted another 2 during the qualifying stages, helping the Swedish side to the Europa League group stages for the first time. He also scored Ostersunds first goal in the group stages and has guided them to top spot in Group J.

Ghoddos has been twice capped by Sweden, but has since switched allegiances to Iran, where he has also made 2 appearances.

Neither Fulham or QPR boast the most potent off attacks, but the signing of Ghoddos could certainly help address that issue.
