Pudil, Sheffield Wednesday unsure if Daniel Pudil will play this weekend

Sheffield Wednesday unsure if Daniel Pudil will play this weekend

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal has told the Sheffield Star that Daniel Pudil is a doubt for Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.

Pudil suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s draw with Barnsley and this forced him to miss Tuesday’s win against Millwall and now it could rule him out of further fixtures. It had been hoped that after missing the midweek match that he would be able to return for their game against Aston Villa, though that is now in doubt.

Since then, Pudil has undergone a scan and while the injury isn’t serious and will not keep him out for much longer, it still means he is a doubt for this weekend’s match. And so Carvalhal has said he doesn’t know if he will be able to use for him the game against Aston Villa or if fans will have to wait until after the international break to see the Czech defender back in action.

Carvalhal said: “Daniel s not training but he is much better.”

“I don’t know if he can be involved on Saturday.”

“We will make a decision tomorrow. But if he’s not available for Aston Villa he will be available for the next game after the international break.”

“He’s near to coming back to training. Let’s see tomorrow.”

Should Pudil not be fit enough to play against Aston Villa, he should be able to play in the first match after the international break. This will be a tough match against Bristol City which will take place on 18th November.
