Villa youngster bags hat-trick in huge victory over Magpies

Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare has fired a reminder of his talents to first team manager Steve Bruce by scoring a hat-trick in a 6-0 victory for the club’s under-23 side against Newcastle United on Monday evening.

Villa’s young side ran riot against The Magpies in a match which saw senior players Jack Grealish and Henri Lansbury get valuable game time.

It took Villa just 10 minutes to find the game’s first goal when Harry McKirdy fired the ball into the back of the net before Hare notched a first half brace. The 19-year-old Solihull born hotshot had not been selected in the senior squad for the derby clash with Birmingham City at St Andrews on Sunday meaning that the player was instead available to feature in the under-23s fixture at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.

Lansbury grabbed a fourth goal just before the break as Villa went into the interval with a 4-0 lead following a dominant first half display.

O’Hare was handed a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick in the second half when Villa were awarded a penalty kick. The youngster saw his spot kick saved however visiting keeper Freddie Woodman was unable to hold onto the ball and O’Hare went on to net at the second attempt.

Jake Doyle-Hayes capped off a superb evening for Villa with a sixth goal late on as they bounced back from last week’s 3-2 defeat at Reading.
