Nottingham Forest unlikely to sign Everton youngster again

Nottingham Forest head coach Mark Warburton has told BBC Sport that they are unlikely to sign Kieran Dowell from Everton after the end of his loan.

The Everton academy is very highly rated and Dowell is the latest great youngster to come through. He was part of the England U20s squad that won the World Cup last summer and the Toffees coaching staff then thought it was time for him to be loaned out so he can gain vital first team experience so he can become a better player.

He would end up signing for Forest and he has been a great signing for them. During his 14 appearances with the East Midlands club, he has scored five goals and become a fan favourite. His status was further enhanced this weekend with a starring performance against Hull City, scoring a hat trick to give them a 3-2 win.

Dowell will be with Forest until the end of the season, but Warburton has said it is unlikely that they will be keeping him for much longer than that.

He said: “It’s great to say ‘keep him’ but he’s an Everton player,”

“We are delighted to have him. I think he is really enjoying the move and I hope Everton really benefit from the experience he is getting.”

“But don’t lose sight of the fact that he is an Everton player. Everything is geared towards his development.”

Dowell will still be with Forest for their next match against Reading, which will take place tomorrow on Halloween.
