OPINION: Why Yorkshire football clubs are on the rise

Yorkshire football teams have been performing well over the past few years. Here is a look at the clubs from Yorkshire and why they have started doing well:

Huddersfield Town- The Terriers achieved a famous promotion to the Premier League last season and have started well to life in the top flight.

Leeds United: After years of financial difficulties and dropping down to League One, the Whites look destined for a return to the Premier League one day soon. They now look like genuine promotion contenders.

Sheffield United: The Blades stormed to the League One title and they have made a great start to the Championship season. They could be in the promotion frame if they maintain their form.

Sheffield Wednesday: They may be struggling a bit at the moment in the league but they have reached the Championship Play-Offs the past two seasons and just need to take the next step to return to the top flight one day.

Hull City: They may well have been relegated last season but from nearly going out of business in 1999 to gaining two promotions to the Premier League, getting to an FA Cup final and playing Europa League football is an outstanding achievement for the Tigers.

Middlesbrough: Have struggled so far this season but have some great players and will be in the promotion frame for a return to the Premier League come the end of the season.

Barnsley: The Tykes are holding their own in the Championship and have some exciting young talent in their ranks.

Bradford City: Narrowly missed out on promotion from League One last season in the Play-Off final but look set for another promotion push this season.

Doncaster Rovers: Won promotion from League Two last season under Darren Ferguson.

Rotherham: Were relegated from the Championship last season but have started life back in League One well and are currently in the Play-Offs and looking in good shape to challenge for a return to the second tier.
