Premier League duo show interest in Wolves star Connor Coady

Premier League duo Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are both interested in a move for Wolves star Connor Coady, according to The Sun.

He impressed for Wolves in Tuesday’s defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup. He is apparently rated at £7 million.

Coady used to be a central midfielder but has been used by Wolves  boss Nuno Espirito Santo as a central defender so far this season. He has helped the Midlands club get to the top of the Championship.

The 24 year-old was a product of the Liverpool academy. However, Coady only played once for his boyhood club and got a first taste of first-team experience on loan at Sheffield United for the 2013/14 season, where he played 39 games for the Blades.

Liverpool let Coady leave on a permanent basis in 2014 and Huddersfield Town beat Sheffield United to his signature. He spent one season with the Terriers, playing every game bar one in the 2014/15 season. Wolves swooped for in him in 2015.

Newly promoted Sheffield United tried to sign Coady this summer but Wolves tied him down on a new contract. It will be interesting to see if they can hold onto him if a Premier League club come calling in January. The way things are going if he stays with Wolves he could well be in the top flight next season anyway.

Wolves fans will be hoping they can hold onto their man in January. Connor Coady will be a key player for them this season in their hunt for the Championship title.
