Leeds United fans comment on Hernandez opener and Iheanacho equaliser in cup tie

Leeds United started their Sky Bet Championship campaign in spectacular style, hitting out for seven games undefeated at the start of the season, with a consecutive six of these without conceding.

Whilst they’ve fallen apart again over recent league games, the Whites have kept it together in the Carabao Cup, seeing off three sides to set up tonight’s tie with Premier League Leicester City.

Lower league sides Port Vale and Newport County were dispatched 4-1 and 5-1 respectively, with Samu Saiz and Kemar Roofe scoring a hat-trick apiece in each of these games. A harder time was had against Premier League side Burnley, with penalties needed to separate the sides at the end of 90 minutes.

Tonight’s game against Leicester would also be test for a Leeds United side that showed 10 changes from Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Bristol City. Leicester City also put out a ‘second-string’, albeit collectively a more polished and accomplished one that what the Whites had.

Leeds looked quite promising in the opening segments of the game, and were asking questions of a useful Foxes outfit. After some probing and pulling out of shape, it was the visiting Whites who opened the scoring courtesy of a curled peach of a goal (27′) from Spaniard Pablo Hernandez (below).

It was a goal that, in fairness, was coming for the visiting West Yorkshire side and one that their early endeavours had fully deserved.

However, the joy of their fans was shortlived when, just three minutes later, the home side equalised through exciting youngster Kele Iheanacho (below).
