Ipswich Town striker could leave Portman Road at the end of the season

Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick could opt to leave the club at the end of the season according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

The 29-year-old Nottingham born hotshot has bagged 43 goals in 147 appearances for The Tractor Boys since joining the club from Nottingham Forest in January 2013 on an initial loan deal which was later made permanent.

McGoldrick is out of contract at Portman Road at the end of the season and despite the fact that the player is yet to be offered a new deal by Ipswich Town, the striker has admitted that he could look to leave the club and move closer to his family in Nottingham.

The player has battled against some niggling injury problems which has sidelined him for long periods over the past couple of years however McGoldrick is arguably one of Ipswich Town’s most important squad members and the club cannot afford to lose him.

McGoldrick started his career with Notts County before joining Southampton where he scored 15 goals in 75 appearances. The player moved to Nottingham Forest in summer 2009 however the striker was in and out of favour at The City Ground and was loaned out to both Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City prior to his move to Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys reportedly received a £5 million transfer offer from Leicester City for the player’s services just three years ago.
