Leeds United youngster suffers confidence collapse at Moor Lane

Young Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell suffered a significant collapse in his confidence as loan club York City lost 3-2 at Salford City in National League North on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old Darlington born stopper is currently spending a month on loan a Bootham Crescent but his second game for the former English Football League club was not one to remember.

In wet and blustery conditions at Moor Lane, the keeper played his part in three soft goals conceded by The Minstermen as the home side took advantage of the keeper’s lack of confidence along with some defensive frailties to race into a three-goal lead before York City scored twice late on to make the scoreline a little more respectable.

The first goal saw Salford City skipper Liam Hogan net with a simple finish from close range although to be fair on keeper Peacock-Farrell, the player was left with acres of space after the York City defence failed to clear a corner kick.

The game’s second goal left the on loan Leeds United keeper with egg on his face. Former Morecambe striker Jack Redshaw spotted Peacock-Bailey poorly positioned in the York City goal and the player thrashed a long range thunderbolt beyond the keeper who was nothing more than a spectator some way from moving the ball

Peacock-Farrell made a further blunder early in the second half when he severely misjudged a Salford City corner kick allowing Hogan to tap the ball into an unguarded net.

Late goals from Louis Almond and Aidan Connolly brought the scoreline back to 3-2 but The Minstermen were left to rue some defensive errors and basic goalkeeping mistakes as they threw away three points.
