Premier League giants plotting £10 million move for Sheffield United star

Liverpool are leading the race for Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League club are hoping to tempt the Championship club with a £10 million bid in January. Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle are also interested in the youngster, but Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has insisted in the past that he will not leave in January.

There is no surprise that Brooks is attracting a lot of interest. The 20 year-old has burst onto the scene at Bramall Lane this season. He came up through the Manchester City academy but was released before he joined the Blades.

Brooks was the Player of the Tournament for England U21s at the Toulon tournament in the summer. However, he has now switched his allegiance to Welsh and was called up to their first-team. He was set to join League Two side Chesterfield in the summer but Chris Wilder pulled the plug on the deal after the Toulon tournament, showing his intention to play him in the Championship this season.

The midfielder was outstanding for the Blades in the recent Steel City derby. He starred in the United side who earned a stunning 4-2 win at bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday and his performance put him well and truly in the spotlight.

Sheffield United fans will be hoping that the interest of Liverpool are just rumours and they hold onto their prized possession. However, if Brooks carries on playing the way he is then he will not be in the Championship for long.
