NEWS: Liverpool front queue for Sheffield United starlet

Premier League giants Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign Sheffield United’s young star David Brooks, according to a report by the Daily Mirror.

It is also thought that Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle are chasing a move for the attacking midfielder, but the Blades are said to be reluctant to sell their prized asset.

Liverpool are ready to make a move for Brooks in January, after tracking his progress since the beginning of the season. Jurgen Klopp is willing to pay as much as £10m for the 20 year old.

Brooks made his first Blades appearance in a Checkatrade trophy tie in 2016, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. He then went on to play his first league match for United in a 2-1 defeat to Walsall, in what was a difficult period for the club.

During the summer, Brooks represented England under 20’s in the Toulon tournament. He scored 2 goals and was given the best player award, helping the Three Lions to tournament glory.

It has been this season where Brooks has really made a name for himself at Bramall Lane. He has played 10 times for United this season, helping them up to 3rd place in the Championship in their first season back in the second tier since 2011.

Brooks put in a man of the match performance in a 4-2 victory over near neighbours Sheffield Wednesday. Despite featuring for England in the summer, Brooks earned a call up to the Wales national side for their fixtures against Georgia and Republic of Ireland. He didn’t make feature in either of these games, but his progress has clearly not gone unnoticed.
