English Premier League club Newcastle United have been put up for sale with owner Mike Ashley looking to complete a deal with a buyer before Christmas according to BBC Sport.
The Magpies have endured a rollercoaster ride while the 53-year-old Sports Direct founder has been at the helm at St James’ Park.
The announcement comes as good news to many Newcastle United supporters who have campaigned for change for several years. With bitter rivals Sunderland currently struggling at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, we took to Twitter to see what fans of The Black Cats thought of Ashley’s decision to sell.

So #NUFC up for sale, there's a more successful club just down the road up for sale for a smaller fee if anyone's interested ☺️ #SAFC

You can see it coming. That lot being bought by the Saudi royal family and #SAFC being bought by a modern day Tom Cowie.

Newcastle United were promoted from the Sky Bet Championship as title winners last season replacing Sunderland in the English Premier League. A lack of investment at The Stadium of Light over the summer has prevented the Wearside club from mounting a challenge for an immediate top flight return.
