Nottingham Forest set to join Birmingham City in race for award winner

Nottingham Forest are set to join Sky Bet Championship rivals Birmingham City in the race to sign St Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan according to the Daily Record.

The 21-year-old Greenock born midfield ace has recently been named the Scottish Championship Player of the Month after some excellent performances for the high flying Buddies.

Birmingham City have recently been linked with a move for the player in January with Morgan out of contract at St Mirren Park in the summer and it has now been revealed that Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton is also an admirer of the youngster.

The Reds could be willing to bid around £500,000 to land Morgan while Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers are also watching the player’s development closely.

Morgan is a product of the academy system at Rangers but the player failed to make the grade at Ibrox and signed for St Mirren in September 2013. The midfielder has gone on to make 90 appearances in all competitions for The Buddies, scoring 19 goals.

The player is a Scotland Under-21 international and has recently featured for Scot Gemmill’s side in their qualifying campaign for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino.

St Mirren have already rejected an offer in the region of £200,000 for Morgan from Burton Albion in the summer.
